8th grade parties

8th Grade Celebrations, which one is yours!?
The 8th grade celebrations are similar, and different throughout the halls.

The 8th grade has had many celebrations on the past, some good, and some bad. This year, due to budget cuts we couldn’t go to Oaks Park. A lot of people were bummed about that. But with what we have, money wise, we still have many parties to come. Each hall is going to have a different type of party. They have some differences and some similarities. Each hall will have a BBQ. Some halls chose to do a talent show along with the BBQ.

Orange hall has already had their party. I interviewed some students from orange hall, 30% of them were not happy with the party they had. 70% of them said they were happy. They said it was good because they had a lot of fun watching their peers go up and do what they do best. The people who said it wasn’t good said that because it was boring or lame. The teachers thought that it was a success. They thought the kids were having a great time.

Red hall is doing a BBQ, like every hall, a talent show, and a talentless show. A talentless show is when people go up and do something that they aren’t good at and just laugh a lot. The red hall staff thinks it will be a good way to spend the last day of school. Laughing at all their peers and having a good time. I interviewed some students and they were all happy with what is planned for the party. They think a talentless show is a good addition to the traditional talent show. I asked a few kids who were planning on participating in the talentless show. They said their acts were going to be things from failing at break dancing to dancing to single ladies. Some of the kids thought that the BBQ wouldn’t be happening because of the weather. The teachers are hoping that it stays dry and is somewhat warm.

Green hall. Green hall students said they weren’t really doing anything but the BBQ. The students said they weren’t happy with just the BBQ; they want to do talent shows and other fun things as well. They wanted to have a big talent show and have a winner, judges and everything. I’m not sure if the teachers just didn’t want to plan anything, or if they couldn’t do to scheduling.

Blue hall is going to have a BBQ like everyone else. I didn’t interview many blue hall students. The few that I interviewed said they were planning on having a talent show, but it could get canceled due to time issues. The students said they were happy with what is planned for the end of year. They all were hoping that the talent show was going to happen.

The students all over the school were very disappointed about Oaks Park. Students thought that they had enough money, or if they didn’t they could have some sort of fund raiser to raise the rest of the money needed to take everyone. I asked some students from red hall about it, they thought it was even worse because the class before them got to go to Oaks Park. The teachers were also disappointed about not going, the red hall teachers said it was very fun to watch all the kids go nuts at Oaks Park. One person said that our three years at Stoller were the worst ever, when I asked why, they said we were the only 6th graders that had to go through enrichment, which was basically another humanities class. They also said that it wasn’t good because we don’t get to go to Oaks Park. They did say that it would still be fun at the end of the year though, they thought what was planned for the end of the year was a good idea. They thought that all the kids would have a good time eating the BBQ foods instead of the cafeteria food.
