Pre-wrap's Purpose
What was pre-wrap originally intended for?
Just a few of the many different colors of this rising sensation! |
This new phenomenon of girls young and older wearing athletic pre-wrap in their hair seems to have really expanded over the years. Pre-wrap was originally made as a foam that protects skin from tape chafing and sticking. Many athletes use pre-wrap to wrap around their injuries before applying tape when participating in a sport or an activity that involves using their injury. Now-a-days it seems as if girls wear them during sports, in school, and just casually during their day. Is this a fashion statement that people are trying to show, or is it just cool to wear? As I was in basketball practice the other day almost every single girl had a different color of pre-wrap in their gym bag, that was used for their hair! There was zebra print, pink, lime green, blue, red, black, etc. which just shows you how many people are purchasing this product for stylish reasons, not just to keep hair out of their face. Although it seems to some people like headbands are better to wear with their friends or in different events, while sports are transpiring pre-wrap seems to stay in hair better. I spoke with Dana B. about pre-wrap and she really seemed to have loved this product. When I spoke to her about it originally being wrapped for injuries, she couldn't believe it, and still doesn't like many other people! Pre-wrap has grown so much that since people see others wearing it, then they believe they should have pre-wrap too. Red, orange, light green, purple, blue, pink, and black are the colors that Dana gets her pre-wrap in at a store called Aries in many different colors for a cheap amount! Pre-wrap is still on the rise but now sold in many stores, not just athletic apparel stores. What will happen in the next couple of years with this product is a mystery, but I'm sure there is a mighty bright future for this athletic foam wrap.
