The 2010 NBA Finals are set after the finishes of the conference finals. We have the Boston Celtics versus the Los Angeles Lakers in the finals. These two have a fierce rivalry that dates way back. These two teams have met in the finals eleven times. Out of these eleven match-ups Boston has won nine of them, dominating the series. Combined, they also have accounted for more than half of the NBA championships. Boston has seventeen of these and L.A. has fifteen. Boston’s latest win against the Lakers in the NBA Finals came in 2008 when they blew out the Lakers to end the series. However, Los Angeles is hot and looking for revenge. Last year they beat the Orlando Magic in the NBA Finals.
The atmosphere for this series is electric and to find out how electric I interviewed various students around Stoller Middle School. An anonymous Blue Haller said that he was extremely excited for the match-up and would watch every single game, even if this meant missing a sports practice. Only one of the people that I interviewed said that they were not interested in the NBA. This shows that some people stay away from it true, but so many more get right into it. Most all of these interviewees thought that Boston will win. Also, most said that they are jumping on the Boston Celtic bandwagon and will be cheering for them come game time. This is interesting, but I guess that it is true, people love winners.
The most beloved player on either one of these teams is Boston point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo is having a breakout postseason in absolutely incredible fashion. Then after him, the player that is second most beloved by Stoller is the Lakers guard Kobe Bryant. The first game of the seven game series will be Los Angeles as well as the second. After this they head to Boston for two games. Then they alternate every game from then on out starting in Los Angeles. First team to reach four wins comes away champion.
I am anticipating a thrilling series with many twists and turns along the way. Most of the Stoller population seems to agree with me on this according to my interviews. However, when all is said and done, most of the students interviewed here at Stoller think that the Boston Celtics will take home the championship. This will make Boston extend their lead for the leagues most NBA championships to eighteen. Who really knows though? No one can know for sure who is going to win, especially not in a tight series like this. So I bid you a farewell and hope that you yourself will make your own prediction and watch this NBA championship series along with mostly all of your Stoller colleague friends.
