Giant series of Tornados hit Missisipi, killing 55 people

Juan C. Blyler

Tornados roar through four states in the south, primararly missisipi, as they are the ones who got hit the most. The tornados tore through the four states, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama, and nearly 55 people were killed when others took cover, simply having nowhere to go, the storms proved too powerful. Houses were destroyed and cars went flying as the giant tunnels of wind charged through the states, but Missisipi was hit the hardest.
Survivor Bonnie Brawner, 80, who lived in a “buetiful neiborhood, now its hell”. The storm flattened entire streets, wrecked churchs, and broke hearts of the residents who lived there.
'It was like a rumbling and a roaring and stuff was falling,'' Hendrix said. ''It sounded like it was going to suck us out of there. It lasted about two minutes, but it felt like it lasted an hour.'' Close to 100 yards away from there, the owner of Ribeye's Steak House said that everywhone ran into a freezer and got to safety when they saw the tornado.
''The roof was caving in, TVs flying off the shelves and it was horrible,'' Mitchell Saxton said. The customers who were hiding inside the freezer stayed in there for a good ten minutes when they finally came out and saw the wreckage of some of them's beloved home.
"Just thanking the good Lord I'm here and able to talk with you all.''
This severe weather first started in Lousiana, very close to the state line bordering Missispi. The storm then moved east, the twster hitting Yazoo County, Miss. Killing 4 people and then traveled to Holmes County, and another person was killed. A little farther northeast, a tornado hit Choctaw County, were the tunnel of wind took five more peoples lives.
"It was as scary as hell" said one of the Yazoo County survivors.
Meteorologists said it was too soon to tell whether a single long-lasting tornado -- or multiple shorter ones -- caused the deaths and damage in the different cities.
