STOLLER SPORTS

The new thing in Stoller

Casually, most middle schools would have an annual sports team for which players (students) try out for every year. Many students would like to be competitive and be with their friends at the same time. Stoller, on the other hand, does not have an active sports team for student to try out for. After an interview with Mr. Gus, he said that Stoller has a track team program that was no cut and a good way to get into shape.
Track is a good sports and a fun way to get into exercise, but not everybody is found of it. Some people would prefer basketball, baseball, or soccer. “We do have a soccer and baseball field”, says Austin W. from Red 8. He also agrees that Stoller should have a sports program that students can get involved with.
Mr. Gus also told me that student will either play basketball during
lunch time, go outside and play basketball after school, on the courts or nearby students will walk to the courts and play a little one on one game. But after a toll with many students that were surveyed, we counted that most students don’t like the rims and they are much too small for a full sized basketball. We also found that students don’t like the size of the courts because sure they are good for smaller kids, but a ten-foot rim with a half size court is very awkward.
We also asked why the soccer fields or indoor basketball courts were never used for extra curricular activity. We also have a perfectly nice baseball field too. Mr. Gus said that the baseball field is used during some Sun Creek practices or games and sometimes the soccer field is also used for soccer practices for teams. We also found out that there are no coaches for teams. Why can’t the parents coach, there are some parents who really know the game…
