Budget Cuts Affect P.E. And You

Parker V. Jaycee M.
Any money left is going towards replacements of games.

Have you ever wondered why we play the same games in P.E. over and over again time after time, I can tell you why in two words “small budget”, When we interview Mrs. Richey She stated, but not her exact words that, every team of teachers, like the gym teachers gets a budget, which is a set amount of money that the teachers get a year. She also said that if the gym teachers needed or wanted more money they could ask her and she would have to approve it and she also said that the gym teachers had came to ask her for more money but they were denied the money. This budget in gym class is used to buy supplies, however most of this budget is used to replace broken equipment. When we interviewed Mrs. George we learned that the P.E. teacher team get about 14 to 15 hundred dollars a year for budget, but we also learned that most of the money gets used to replace basketballs, soccer balls, megaphones (which she said they break almost every year). Also Mrs. George mentioned that they are responsible for replacing the recess equipment with a portion of their budget. She also said that they have tried to raise money by Doing off school events, Like the “Nike-jog-a-thon”. Mrs. George mentioned that we have enough equipment, but they need more space. When me and my partner went around the school and interviewed students we discovered a bright young student who said when we asked “Do you like the games in P.E.”, that said “Their okay, some of them”, another student said, “ Some of them are boring”, but both of them wanted to remain anonymous. Overall I think I can say with confidence that the boring dull games in gym are in no way the P.E. teacher’s fault.
